Sunny afternoon musings

Golden verses hang from trees
Like golden fruit
Hanging heavy on the branch
Waiting to be picked.
Search the ground,
How many words can you find
Half-emerging from their conkers
Half-hidden
Waiting for a seeing mind.

This is a land of imagery
Of ancient word-smiths
Who wove light
Into a shimmering blanket
To cover the land.

Sunshine poetry

Sunshine will be here tomorrow
Breathe the perfect air it brings
Look around
Sweet summer comes
Writing its poetry
With light and shade.

Symphony

A symphony of light plays
After a summer storm
Whispering
In the language of eternity
Sea spray licks my bare face.

Stubborn Words

I tried to write down
What I wanted to say
But I just couldn’t put it down right.
I have a way with words
Like that –
They completely refuse
To do what I tell them to
Or what I want them to.
It’s like they take
One look at me
And stick their tongue out.

Strong

Strong arms, but tender
He could fit me
Into the palm of his hand,
But instead,
He hugs me to his chest
Allows me to hear
A reassuring sound –
His heart beating.
All my burdens get me down
But he carries me
As though I’m not a burden,
As though I weigh nothing at all.

Stormy Seas

Despair washes over me,
Wave after wave,
Slowly dissolving my defenses

Dark thoughts crash through my head,
Imitating the stormy seas
Which surround me.

My world crashes down around me.

Sometimes

Sometimes
I don’t understand
The way I feel.
Sometimes
I get confused.
I can think
Such irrational, illogical things
Sometimes
It scares me
It makes me feel out of control –
Something I hate to be.

Soft Silver Moonlight

With tranquil beauty – light,
Harsh lines are softened much.
A radiance soft, yet bright,
Alight with a silver touch.

Under the moon’s soft glow,
Entrancing all in magic show,
As silver light and shadow flow.

Like water over stones,
The silver rays cascade.
Like silver faerie voices
That slowly drift and slowly fade.

The sun has sunk down ‘neath the earth,
Its last rays linger in the sky.
The moon’s soft glow eclipses all,
And shines stronger – by and by.

Twilight gone, the night folds in,
Its first gold stars appear.
The moon’s soft beauty warms all hearts,
And comforts people’s fear.

Soaring

I want to soar into the stillness
Above the storm and screaming wind
Above the void.
Beneath the clouds
I stare towards the sky
Wishing
For visions of eternity.

Soapbox

The temptation is there
I want to get on my soapbox.
Of course,
The rules don’t apply to me
I can tell everyone else how to think.
I can see so much wrong
And I know how to fix it.
